The Monarch Story

Founded in November 2023 by an 18 year old aspiring video director, Gus Dickman, Monarch is a multi-media and video production company born out of a passion for creativity. Before Monarch, Gus was producing videos under the name ShotByGoat, capturing local music scenes and creative projects across Louisville and Southern Indiana. On the sports side of things, he filmed mixtapes for his high school basketball team and local AAU players to gain a basic understanding of upper-level production. In the music industry, Gus found himself in the mixes of names like Jack Harlow, The Homies, Bblasian, Lil Zayo, Steve'n Mobb, Elz Bentley, Punchmade Dev, and more!

After moving to Indiana from Greenville, SC, Gus’s early years were spent going to public school and participating in travel soccer. As a young kid, he won numerous young author awards and certificates through Mount Tabor Elementary School, where he attended grades K-4. The writing developed into making these short stories a visual reality, where Gus would create stock-motion films on an ipod touch. For his 12th birthday, his parents got him a camcorder where he would begin editing hype videos of himself playing soccer in the backyard, as well as short skits with neighbors and friends. His creativity blossomed, and by the time he reached New Albany High School, he was beginning to build a name for himself as a freelance videographer, continuing to work with a variety of artists in Louisville’s rap scene. He even began getting into the studio himself under the name "4Eva DaGoat". Some of his biggest records from that time include, Long Way, Stages Of My Life, Racin' (ft. Lil Elf), and Turn Up. In 2022, he was booked for a live performance in Louisville where he and another fellow artist, Lil Elf, turned up a downtown venue. At age 16, Gus released his first studio album, titled "The Goat Life", where it did numbers before he decided to unrelease it and focus full time on video production.

At Transylvania University (Lexington, KY), where he played college soccer, Gus decided to take his vision to the next level. It was there that Monarch was born. Gus was determined to provide a platform for those looking to escape into a world of music and creativity. The answer to this would be a multi-media platfrom that combined elements of music, video, live events / shows, clothing, and art. A lot of his early work under Monarch included videos with the universitys fraternaties and sports teams. The Monarch butterfly is a symbol of joy, rebirth, hope, and transformation ; something Monarch preaches on a regular basis. Monarch is set out to create a monumental video production company
